Benefits of Belonging to the ECAA

Strength in Numbers Equals Voice to the Government. This allows electrical contractors to voice their opinions and concerns regarding topics that directly affect their industry. Collectively we can accomplish what is best for our industry. Professional Electrical Contractors. The ECAA has embarked on a program that enables the electrical contractor to enhance his existing skills or to perhaps expand his education or training. This will ensure that the electrical contractor has the necessary skills and knowledge to be successful in the business world.

Employer/Employee Benefits; Business Insurance. Belonging to our Association allows the small or large contractor access to reduced rates for health care benefits and business insurance premiums due to group association. Your Workers Compensation rate is where it is today because a representative of ECAA has been involved with WCB to maintain this low rate.

Association/Communication with Other Organizations. Various industry Associations call upon the ECAA for input regarding issues that affect the electrical industry. These Associations know that the ECAA represents the electrical industry. eg. Apprenticeship; WCB; Canadian Electrical Code. Access to Various Publications and Resources. Membership allows access to publication such as the National Electrical Contractors Association manuals, the Canadian Electrical Contractors Association manuals, Electrical Estimating manuals, Industry newsletters, Estimating/Bid forms, and Warranty forms. Membership also allows access to survey data and information gathered by the Association for the Association.

Exchange of Ideas and Concerns. The membership enjoys the ability to exchange ideas regarding their profession during the regular Association and Chapter meetings. This is also the means of expressing any concerns regarding the Association or the Industry.

How will my Voice be Heard in the Industry? Your voice will add support to the group representing your Industry and allow you opportunity for input into various agencies and the political arena such as the Worker’s Compensation Board, the Apprenticeship Board, Fire Prevention Council, Code Committee, Canadian Electrical Contractors Association, Canadian Construction Association, Alberta Construction Association, Alberta Construction Tendering System, Alberta Construction Labour Relations Association, Alberta Construction Safety Association, Various Trade Associations, Electrical Industry Association of Alberta, and Various Provincial and Local Government Departments.

There will be. Legislative Representation, adding support to the group representing your industry in the political arenas on both the Provincial and Federal levels. Legislatively is of the utmost importance to Electrical Contractors and Suppliers. The ECAA represents the Electrical Industry on several government-working committees such as the Code Committee, the Apprenticeship Advisory Board and the Electrical Board of Examiners. Presently, we are leading a fight against unfair competition, which is taking business away from legitimate Electrical Contractors.
